   In response to demand from alumni and prospective students, Studio Incamminati offers a two-tiered figure-painting workshop conceived, designed and taught by our award-winning, full-time instructors.
   If you have never taken a Studio Incamminati workshop, the Introductory segment offers an overview of the concepts taught in our full-time Professional Program and workshops. This session begins with short gesture poses and progresses to three-hour poses.
   The concurrent Alumni session is for artists who previously attended a workshop and wish to refine those concepts based on their individual needs. It includes a four-day pose designed to meet the goals of more experienced students. Daily instruction and individual critiques will augment frequent demonstrations of concepts introduced. As part of the workshop, Nelson Shanks conducts a painting demonstration Jan. 30, 6-9 p.m.

Transitioning from Color Study
to a Developed Painting

    Ideal for advanced students seeking to master the essential discipline of color studies, this week-long, still-life workshop emphasizes finding the rhythm in painting.
   Students learn when to make the shifts between
balancing composition, drawing and color within a painting.
   The first day begins with setting up a still life and working out a
composition with thumbnail sketches.
   Day two requires developing a color study followed by an open grisaille.
   Days three and four are designated for the actual painting: working out drawing issues, instituting color development, keeping paint layers thin and even, and finding the areas of impasto and texture.
   Day five involves a refining process: removing the unneeded and adding finishing details.
   All student advancement is at the instructor’s discretion.
